NYSID Graduate Center Opening

Last Tuesday night I attended the ribbon cutting and opening ceremony for my part time  employer – New York School of Interior Design‘s brand spanking new Graduate Center. Designed by Gensler, the Center opened this year to support the growing graduate studies program, including their one-year MPS in Sustainable Interior Environments.

The new space is clean, new, and ready to promote the best professional interior designers coming out of school today. (In part due to their amazing teachers!)

Incorporating NYSID’s signature red and white, the Reception Area greets students and visitors with a sleek, sophisitcated screen of red glass.

The Studio spaces are delineated by custom chair wallpaper, varied on each column.

Conference and break out spaces are clad in murals with images of iconic modern designs.

Meeting and presentation spaces are sprinkled throughout.

I teach at the main building in the undergraduate program, so unfortunately don’t get to spend too much time here. I’m excited to see NYSID’s curriculum expand. Next year they will also be launching their MPS in Healthcare Design. Exciting and cool stuff.
