It’s a snow day here in Manhattan! While we’re still working today, I thought I’d begin by sharing how truly wonderful white can be!
White with a splash of color can be serene and beautiful.
White is clean and fresh.
This ballet dancer’s bedroom was inspired by the Delano Hotel in Miami Beach.
White gives you a blank canvas to work with and allows you to change elements frequently.
White is a limitless tool of design, classic and contemporary, tranquil and vivacious.
In the bedroom, white on white with white bed linens creates a sumptuous form. Shadows become colors, texture becomes a focal point and the room changes in every light.
White can bring a modern look to traditional pieces.
To quote David Ling: “To paraphrase Corbusier, architecture is the play of light on form, and I think that’s the reason I love white. Its luminous quality heightens the effect of shadows, magnifying lines and curves, yet at the same time it unifies space. There’s a physical and psychological purity to white. It also connotes wealth (somebody has to clean it!) so in that way, white rooms are the modern-day silver.“
